I have a confession to make.

I used to hate Flex Seal.

That’s right, Shane Trusty, the guy who absolutely LOVES As Seen On TV products, didn’t like Flex Seal.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t think Flex Seal was evil or anything, I just thought that the claims made on the commercials was a bit outrageous to be real.

And then something happened at work that changed my mind forever…

You see, I work as an Assistant Manager for Walmart and one of my current areas of responsibility is oversight over our As Seen On TV area.

I was recently helping the department manager change over the counters and encountered a damaged bottle of Flex Seal. It looked like someone had tried to use it and had pressed down too hard causing it to empty the contents all over the counter!

The Flex Seal had apparently been like this for a few days as it was next to impossible to pry the broken can off the shelf. It would stretch a bit, but would firmly stay in place no matter how hard I tried.

That’s when it hit me that I might have been wrong about Flex Seal from the beginning. I had proof in my hands that there really was something to using this stuff.

So I did the only thing you can do when faced with such a truth.

I bought some Flex Seal to try around the house!

I choose the clear version as I’m lazy and didn’t want to have to paint over anything I was trying to fix.

My first project was to fix a couple of downspouts on my guttering system as they like to spray out a bit funny when it rains. I made a few passes and waited for the next rain shower. Sure enough, no more leaks!

My next project was our guest bathroom. The drain beneath the sink has a maddening little leak that had defied my repeated adjustments. I opened up the windows and sprayed some of the flex seal into an old mug and hand painted it over the areas that looked like they were leaking. I let it set up, and sure enough my leak was gone!

That clenched it for me. Flex Seal worked for my projects, and proved that the claims were true. Why had I been such a doubter before?

My apologies Phil Swift, I wasn’t fair with Flex Seal before. (And I can’t wait to try the next thing that you sell out of a can!)

Flex Seal products tend to over deliver when it comes to great visuals to their product claims. (I love how he talks to the fishes in this spot as well!)

I bought some of this stuff, and it didn’t work on a leaky pipe that went to my washer. I even went as far as turning off the water first and letting it dry completely before I used this product, and I waited 24 hours before I turned on the water to the washer. Did not stop the leak, and was completely messy. I place this right along with the Sham-wow I bought. Doesn’t work like they say.
